Picture the Cure

'Picture the Cure' is a photography auction being held at The Gladstone Hotel on Wednesday, Aug. 24th. All proceeds go to support The Weekend To End Breast Cancer and Princess Margaret Hospital. There will be approximately 60 photos up for auction, along with food, drinks and live music to keep you entertained while bidding.

You can obtain tickets by calling the number on the above ad or by contacting any of the participating photographers. $5 in advance, $10 at the door. Doors open at 6pm.

The websites are a little hard to see, so here is a list of the 7 participants:

Kendall Anderson - Invisible Threads
Charles Bodi - Ride My Pony
Catherine Jamieson - Utata
Carrie Musgrave - Delineated
Matt O'Sullivan - The Narrative
Irina Souiki - Still Memory
Miles Storey - Mute

We'd really appreciate your support!

Those GTA photobloggers who are not yet "fully digital" may be interested to hear that the Analog Photography Users Group (APUG) is having their first conference here in Toronto, at the Elevator Gallery in Leaside, from May 4th to 7th (2006).

This will be of major interest to anyone interested in traditional photography, especially developer formulation, large-format and ultra-large-format (film sizes greater than 8x10") and alternative process (carbon printing, platinum/palladium, AZO, etc.) They are planning on holding a number of workshops.

Check out this week's "Eye" magazine. On page 10, there's an article by Shawn Micallef from [murmur]/Spacing. It's a great read. And it features photos by Matt O'Sullivan from thenarrative.net.

Also, there's a short listing of Toronto's "most popular" photoblogs, as selected by Dale Duncan.

If you have time, I recommend going through the entire list of TO's 100+ pblogs included in the TAP site. There's a lot of pblogs out there that may not be up in the "rankings" but are no less creative.

Peace!

While checking out the action on Flickr today I found Nighthawks, a night photography group blog with the best pictures from the Flickr night photography groups:

Not much there as yet, it's only a week old, but what there is looks pretty good.
