View Article  Photoblogging "Pedals and Paint" this Sunday?
Spacing magazine and the City Beautification Ensemble are holding another "Pedals and Paint - a workshop on how to beautify abandoned bikes" this Sunday, June 5th, and they are looking for photoblogers to capture the event on film and/or digital media.

Check out the details at http://spacing.ca/pedals/, then let Matthew Blackett, Spacing creative director, know if you are interested in taking photos and posting them to your blog (send him e-mail at matt {at} spacing {dot} ca )

As Matt said:

This Sunday, Spacing is doing a public art intervention called Pedals And Paint. We teach people how to "beautify" abandoned bikes attached to bike racks. We split people up into teams and give them maps of the downtown core where all of the abandoned bikes are located and they go and paint them (we also supply some spray paint, too).

What I'd like to propose is that a photoblogger goes out with each group and photographs the fresh new public art. It would be really cool, I think, to have a bunch of the city's best photoblogs have images of this event first thing Monday morning (or during the week).
View Article  Photo studio for a day
I badly need one, and it must happen next week, preferably in the weekend. Does anyone know someone who could help me with one or a small studio I could rent for a couple of hours? A friend of mine is pregnant and asked me to take some pregnancy shots of her. She prefers a studio setting, so any help would be much much appreciated. She's due in 2 weeks!!

Thanks a bunch!

View Article  Portable storage device?
Hi there,

I'm in the market for a portable storage device for my photos. I've been looking at the Vosonic, but it runs about $200, and I'd like to spend less. I'd be happy with even 5 gigs of storage. It would have to work with the memory stick technology.

Any ideas? What do you use?

I've checked the Black's and Henry's websites, and neither of them seem to carry anything similar. Do you know where these are sold in Toronto?

Thanks,
-Sage
View Article  Doors Open Toronto - May 28th and 29th
Rannie mentioned Doors Open Ontario a month or so ago, and the details for Doors Open Toronto is now available at http://www.doorsopen.org Mark Saturday, May 28 & Sunday, May 29, 2005 on your calendars.

I've never been before, I'm curious to hear what experiences people have had in the past, and to see the pictures you've taken. Any hidden gems out there we've passed by for years without realizing the beauty behind, well, the closed doors?

You can find details on most of the buildings on the Doors Open web page, and I've found John Sewell's book Doors open Toronto - Illuminating the City's Great Spaces very helpful too.

Many of the locations are well known photo-blog sites, but there looks like other interesting places as well. I'll start the list with a link to my archive of shots at seems Artless. My favorite (so far) is the shot of City Hall using a Lensbaby.
View Article  Queen West Art Crawl...
I was wondering if anyone is interested in splitting a booth at the Queen West Art Crawl.

It's happening in Sept but the deadline for early registration is May 20th. That would mean registration is $150. It's too steep for me, but if split 2 or 3 way, it'd be manageable.

If anyone wants to exhibit and possible sell prints we could do a "Photobloggers Unplugged". I've thrown some small events under a similar name with close friends, but never outdoors and part of a festival. Could be fun.
