Hey folks.
Been a little busy lately, but I figured we should probably have another meetup soon. How does next Thursday look for most people. Looking at somewhere in Parkdale. probably the Rhino (was originally going to be the Drake, but apparently they have something going on Thursdays) RSVP if you can make it out and we can confirm things by early next week if there is enough interest. Otherwise I suppose we should hold off till May. The Drake on the Cafe side That would be TODAY Tuesday April 26th I'll be there between 5:45 to 6pm till whenever. Maybe while we are there we can confirm something for May.

I walked into Fressen for breakfast and sat down. I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and turned my head, to see a waiter holding a two thousand dollar camera, taking a macro shot of a plate of singularly unappetizing muffins. In L.A., every waiter is an actor. In Toronto? They're photographers.

Is there anyone out there that has been to the abandoned Whitby Psychiatric Hospital and would like to go back?
I'm dying to go, but I don't know exactly where it is. I want to go on an upcoming Saturday or Sunday. Anyone interested in a mini group outing there? I don't mind driving and I have room for two if there is any interest. Tomorrow I'm heading off to the Parry Sound area (weather permitting) to investigate a large, old abandoned factory complex that was supposedly used to produce nitro-glycerin (sp?) and is supposed to be pretty interesting. For those of you that are interested in urban exploration, I will post something in a day or so detailing what I encountered there. I hope it is as good as I've been told it is. Tuesday, April 12

Spring is here, the snow is melted and the flowers are beginning to bloom. It's the perfect opportunity to hop in a car and go on a road trip.
Many of you are aware of Doors Open Toronto, which opens the doors to many historical buildings and places to the public. This year, Doors Open Toronto will be taking place on May 28th and 29th. But did you realize that several other cities and towns throughout Ontario also have Doors Open events? Between April and October there are several locations across southern Ontario that are opened to the public. Check out the Doors Open Ontario website for details. Perhaps if there are specific locations that of interest, maybe we could do a couple of group field trips over the next few months. Monday, April 11

Spacing is planning a photoblog for the month of May 2005. The theme to the upcoming print issue (out May 31) is the Past and Future of Toronto's cityscape. So the theme for the photoblog is History.
We are looking for images of things that are old, aged, whethered, rusted, or forgotten. It can focus on people or orbjects or animals or whatever. Something that says 'history' in it's own kind of way.The only restriction is that the image must have been taken outside in Toronto's public spaces. Please let us know the location of where the image was taken (an intersection or neighbourhood will do), and a link to the image you wish to submit. We prefer to look at images posted on sites so we do not overload our photblog email account. You do not have to be a photoblogger to take part in the Spacing Spring photoblog. If you fall into the non-photoblog category, please email us one submission at a time, no bigger than 300kb. The submission deadline is FRIDAY APRIL 22, 2005 Any questions? Email us. matt@spacing.ca Matthew Blackett Spacing creative director Wednesday, April 6

If anyone managed to make it out to Allen Gardens last month then today is the day to post your pics. There's 3 up already. Add them to the photoblog for now, I'm trying to figure out how to add a gallery!
