View Article  Neistat Brothers in town this weekend for a filmfest

Hi all,

I think this looks really cool. I blogged it over at my site & am pasting the post below.
Cheers!

Eli

---------------------

Again with the Neistat brothers - a great short involving the Holland Tunnel in NYC. I'm looking forward to checking them out Saturday night at Camera.

From EYE Weekly:

"Van, 29, and Casey, 24, grew up in Connecticut, where they earned the attention of law enforcement officials for such offences as dealing pot, setting fields on fire and shooting air rifles out of car windows.

They are now based in New York City, where they have made 127 films in the last five years. That's more than enough movies for the Neistats to justify throwing their own festival. At Camera on the weekend of April 1-2, they host two nights of screenings in their first-ever live appearance, where they will be offering viewers complimentary tequila.

The movies are the real reason to look forward to the Neistat brothers' appearance, they're part of a new wave of wiseass, web-friendly, ultra-prolific filmmakers. These dudes revel in the freedom they get from working outside the traditional channels of movie production."

From the creative folks, members of Flickr and the "Squared Circle" group, a beautiful giant peach made of ... squared circles, that's right. Clicking on each square will bring up the full size version. Now that's what I call interactive programming!

View Article  Using "Moveable Type" and "Typepad"
For the past year I have been using a "Typepad" based blog for my photography (The View From Up Here). I've been happy with it, but I feel it has reached its limit as far as what I think I can do with my images. I want my images to be wider than the default 640 pixels wide

Does anyone know of any good ready-made templates for photoblogs using MT, or does anyone know of any good ones tailor made for Typepad? I would really like to know how to change some of the settings that deal with images, but I can't figure out the code that Typepad uses. I really hate how they have set up the photo albums.

My knowledge of HTML is fairly limited and I have been having trouble setting up and getting my MT photoblog up and running.

Please help!
View Article  Where do you go on a rainy day?
Where do you go on a day like today, overcast and cold and dreary? I take photos of people, and the people aren't outside in weather like this. I've been to the Eaton Centre a hundred times, the Path is empty on the weekends...I'm stymied.

Any ideas?

View Article  March Get Together
Alright, I wanted to suggest something a little different and interactive this month for our get together.

I propose that we meet up at the Toronto Free Gallery on Saturday March 19th at 2pm. This will give people an opportunity to catch the PUBLICity exhibit, if they aren't able to make it to the opening tonight. From there we will take it to the streets and shoot and interact while enroute to another location. Possibly Balzac's at the Distillery District.

Please be at the Toronto Free Gallery between 2pm and 2:45pm
Saturday March 19th, 2005
660 Queen Street East.
[Just East of Broadview]

email me at photojunkie @ gmail dot com and I will provide you with my cell phone number, if you want to meet up with us after we have left the gallery [although I may leave details with the gallery as to our destination location]

So bring your cameras and dress warmly.

View Article  The Way We See It - Toronto
As requested I'm creating a new post to formalise this idea.

The Way We See It is a project we can all join in with. We select a location in Toronto that's easily accessible to everyone and give people a month to photograph that location. Then, at the end of the month, everyone posts one image from that location to the TAP photoblog. The idea is to see how different photographers interpret and capture the subject. The locations should have a common focal point so there is a recogniseable theme running through the shots but what you include is entirely up to you.

The first subject for the project is the Allen Gardens conservatory at Carlton and Jarvis, there's an interesting building, both in and out, and plenty of people around. Photos should be posted April 1st.

Have fun!

I was reading about the 'way we see it' idea over at photoblogs.org and thought it might be a good thing to try in Toronto. We could pick a location (anything but the secret swing!) and over the course of a month say capture and post an image of the location on TAP. Perhaps we could make a gallery of it.

Thinking of some examples off the top of my head we could pick the Cherry Street bridge, BCE Place, Union Station main hall, etc there are so many accessible locations we could choose.

Anyone else interested?
