I have been feeling like the east-end is under-appreciated by the photography community, so I decided to put together a small gallery of photos taken within the borders of Pape/Main - Danforth/Lakeshore:
http://www.jaymorrison.com/galleries/eastend/index.html
After completing the gallery, I had the idea that it would be interesting to see other people's images from the east-end of the city.
I would like to put together a gallery of other people's images on my blog and would like to invite any and all photographers to submit photos to me by email to: artiseverywhere{at}gmail.com
I will extend this invitation until Friday, December 2nd and will display the completed gallery next weekend.
So c'mon ... I know there must be some east-end photos out there ... let's show the rest of the city how cool it is over here!
Thanks to all ...
Jay Morrison

One reason I decided to start a photo-blog was as motivation to explore parts of Toronto I wouldn't otherwise visit. Recently I've found two online lists that have got me out shooting more public art in the city:
"Toronto Sculptures" BreadCrumbs path (and others) through Flickr You may have noticed these graphics in Flickr comments: You can use these comments to travel through a 'Journey' of pictures. There is a "Toronto Sculptures" journey with 155 entries (as of Nov 10th). There are other BreadCrumb paths related to Toronto, including one related to fountains with 62 entries (as of Nov 10th). Dittwald photo collection of Toronto sculptures The Dittwald photo collection of Toronto sculptures has 320 sculptures listed. You can also find sculptures by artist name, general area (High Park, U. of T., etc...), female artists, etc...I have a bunch of pictures from Mount Pleasant cemetery, for instance and I managed to learn more about a few of the sculptures there from this site. Check out these sites and let us know if you post any interesting pictures of public art in the city! |
