THE BOOK:

CIRCA: An Urban Retrospect
by Tanja-Tiziana (Hardcover ed., 80 pp, 8x10")

Circa is a collection of photographs that document the timeless surroundings of one Torontonian, who like us the rest of us, walks amidst ghosts.

Disciplined as a child for taking photos of the city rather than her family, we follow the narrator's shunned photography through a hidden scrapbook, kept for decades. From the 1920's through to the mid 1980's - where it ends abruptly, the collection reveals the silent stories of a growing city through the eyes of an admirer.


THE EXHIBIT:

Ten 12x12" black & white prints from the pages of CIRCA will be featured in this exhibit, which runs until March 16th, 2007.

Book will be available for purchase at the Feb 17th launch and later online at UrbanRetrospect.com. I will be providing snacks and Le Petit Dejeuner will have a full bar at your service.

Hey folks

May is just around the corner and soon we'll have a bunch of people from out of town coming to Toronto for a big photoblogger get together weekend.

I’m happy to announce that TAP will be hosting an International Photobloggers Meet in Toronto in May 2006.

After much discussion with several people from the photoblogging community. We have settled on having the photoblogger meet here in Toronto from Friday May 19th 2206 to Monday May 22nd, 2006. (Yes this is the Victoria Day long weekend)

Various social events will occur during the course of the weekend, along with several photo taking outings in and around the Toronto area. In the coming months, I will post more information regarding the weekend, along with suggestions for places to stay and itinerary of activities

Please feel free to leave a comment if you are “thinking” of attending. This is merely a heads up to mark your calendars.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our little get together at the supermarket last night. It was nice to see all the new faces. It was nice to shoot with the 7 brave souls afterward and having Pho to finish off the night was a nice touch.

Hey folks.

Been a little busy lately, but I figured we should probably have another meetup soon. How does next Thursday look for most people. Looking at somewhere in Parkdale. probably the Rhino (was originally going to be the Drake, but apparently they have something going on Thursdays)

RSVP if you can make it out and we can confirm things by early next week if there is enough interest. Otherwise I suppose we should hold off till May.

Alright, I wanted to suggest something a little different and interactive this month for our get together.

I propose that we meet up at the Toronto Free Gallery on Saturday March 19th at 2pm. This will give people an opportunity to catch the PUBLICity exhibit, if they aren't able to make it to the opening tonight. From there we will take it to the streets and shoot and interact while enroute to another location. Possibly Balzac's at the Distillery District.

I already have started planning something special for the December GTABlogger/Toronto Area Photoblogs Holiday Party. Because we couldn't get together this month to do the special slide show at Chris' place this month, I decide to go ahead and planned an alternate show. Please burn a cd with some of your favorite photos from 2004 (please feel free to include and photos you have of other local bloggers and photobloggers) and bring it to the November Get Together. All photos submitted will be included in a special showing at the December Party. (Please try to limit your submission to no more than 100 photos)

UPDATE: Joey (aka the Accordion Guy) is celebrating his Birthday/Engagement later this same day. Out of towners and other photobloggers are welcome to crash the party.

Every fall, we traditionally throw a blogger bowling night. This is the fourth annual and we thought we would throw a little twist into mix. I cordially invite you to Bowl-A-Ween.

So Bob from No Traces is in town on business today. He is staying at the Drake. He's in meetings all day, and has a business dinner but will be free later tonight.

Originally, he was just going to meet up with Gayla and Davin for breakfast tomorrow. I talked him into doing drinks tonight. I know it's only mid week and it's late, but if you can spare an hour or two for a drink, we will be meeting up at the Drake (main floor bar) around 9pm. Davin and Gayla should be around, Bob will be joining us, somewhere between 9 and 10.
