Allen Gardens - Suitor photo?

As I walked up to Allen Gardens, I saw this teenage girl get out of a car with her mother. It was a very cold day, but she was wearing the above sari, which shimmered in the light like peacock feathers. Inside, she posed for photos among the flowers for a professional photographer as her mother fussed over her placement. It was very solemn. I don't know for a fact, but my educated guess is they plan to give the photos to possible bridegrooms.

Nice one, I visited the conservatory twice last month and both times saw wedding photography going on, but this is a whole new slant on that.

She's actually not wearing a sari. It's called a pavadai and dawani. They look like they are probably from Sri Lanka rather than India. Most Indians, even in the South, wear salwar kameezes rather than the traditional pavadai-dawani.
