Although we tend to shoot with some of the latest and greatest digital cameras, Toronto photobloggers are no strangers to the toy camera phenomenon.

Currently there is a show running (September 30th to October 31st) at Shift Gallery (688 Richmond Street West) featuring the work of four Toronto photographers shooting with different Lomo cameras; The Holga, The Action Sampler, Pop 9 and the Super Sampler.

The Lomographic Society of Canada is proud to present an exhibition of new works by four Toronto photographers. Each artist will be working with a different LOMO camera and concentrating on a unique theme to accentuate that cameras strengths. Originating in St. Petersburg, Russia, the Leningradskoje Optiko Mechanitscheskoje Objedin鮩e (LOMO) company has been manufacturing single-lense cameras for over twenty years, with a lean towards multi-lense cameras since 1998.

On Friday October 22nd, they are throwing a closing party to celebrate International Toy Camera Day.

Singer turned photographer Bryan Adams unveiled his latest photos at the Royal Ontario Museum this past Wednesday Night.

The series of black and white portraits included prominent Canadian women sitting on the same stool.  The exhibit  is running from today until Thanksgiving Monday.

The photos will also be featured in a special extra issue of the fashion magazine Flare.

On a related note: Adams released a photo book, Made in Canada (also featuring Canadian Women) in 1999 to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer.

The World Press Photo 2004 winners on display at the Allan Lambert Galleria this week.

"The more disturbing shots are partitioned off in an enclosed space (including some rather grisly shots of self-immoliation in afghanistan and liberian militants parading around severed heads), but there's still lots of fantastic work on display that even the squeamish can appreciate."
