So there is much talk about the rumoured 60 gig photo enabled iPod that may be released in the next month or two (possibly in time for the Xmas rush). It's exciting news, but will it live up to all the hype?

Here are some of the supposed features.
  • It will be the top of the line model of Apple's fourth-generation line-up.
  • It will be loaded with Toshiba's new 60GB 1.8-inch hard drive.
  • It will feature a 2-inch color liquid crystal display.
  • iPhoto synchronization.
  • audio/video-out capabilities
  • $499US retail.

The main draw back in terms of it's impact on digital photography is the inability for this new iPod to read memory cards or download images straight from the camera. A firewire or USB 2.0 port would be very handy if it were built into the iPod. We shall have to wait and see how things pan out.
